Pwllheli and Abersoch are world renowned as excellent sailing centres and the facilities at Pwllheli Marina are second to none. There are launching facilities for large boats and dinghies.
Throughout the season, Pwllheli Sailing Club run many National and International sailing events
There are five excellent Golf courses all within easy reach at Pwllheli ( 2 miles) Criccieth (6 miles) Nefyn (9 miles) Abersoch (9 miles), and Porthmadoc (12 miles)
This is wonderful walking country, and whether you prefer easy rambles, stiffer hill walks or real mountain climbing it is all available locally or within a short drive.
The are five narrow guage railways in the area. The Ffestiniog Railway starts from Porthmadog, with the Welsh Highland railway starting from Caernarfon. Then there is the unique Snowdon Mountain Railway for those who prefer the easy way to climb Snowdon and the Llanberis Lake Railway.
15 miles away is the unique Italianate village of Portmeirion. For those who appreciate unusual, grand architecture, and a few “follies” then this is a must.
At Glasfryn Parc, 4 miles away, there are Go-Carts, Quad Bikes, Clay Pidgeon shooting, fresh water fishing and ten pin bowling.
The Lleyn Peninsula abounds with beautiful beaches, and we have a three mile golden sand beach within a ten minute walk or two minute drive from Gorwel. There are also excellent beaches in Porthmadog (Morfa Bychan & Black Rock Sands), Criccieth, Pwllheli, Llanbedrog, Abersoch, Hells Mouth (famous for windsurfing and surfboarding), Aberdaron (Main Beach & Whistling Sands), Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn
Pwllheli is a traditional Market town with an excellent Wednesday market, and a huge variety of shops, restaurants, cafe’s and pubs.
The ever popular village of Abersoch is only 9 miles away, and is always good to visit.
For the Castle enthusiast we have an abundance at Conwy, Beaumaris, Penrhyn (Bangor), Caernarfon, Criccieth and Harlech
There are also several Parks, Museums, Power stations, Slate quarries, Mines, Leisure Centres and many other interesting attractions including the wonderful Snowdonia National Park, all within a 25 mile radius and all open to the public
